It can't hurt to look, or so he told himself. After all, he looked all the time at his two-dimensional girls.

But Saki was real, with a voice and a scent and warmth that he would feel now and then as they sat at the table and he accidentally brushed against her.

It wasn't like he'd never seen a girl before, but Saki made him realize that he shouldn't push off getting a girlfriend to "someday."

And he could have said something to her. Yes, she was with Kohsaka, but this was real life and he could tell her the truth.

But he thought if he even tried his voice would come out in a squeak like in a bad movie and she just might end up hating him.

So he just looked, and thought, and made up little daydreams in the back of his head. And that had to be enough.
