[August 29] [Seiken Densetsu 3] Pathways (Into/Through) Dark
Title: Pathways (Into/Through) Dark
Day/Theme: August 29- all my innocence is wasted on the dead and dreaming
Series: Seiken Densetsu 3
Character/Pairing: Belgar
Rating: PG
Spoilers: If you know who he is, you're probably good.
If the Light can destroy as well as heal, he cannot see that the Dark should not, in some shape, have the capacity to also be made to heal. Particularly if it is in aid of those whom the Light cannot help, for whatever reason. (That a person under his care should be beyond his capacity to heal is unthinkable, and he rejects the concept entirely.)
There are, he finds when he begins this work, a multiplicity of paths not explored in Dark magic- which, to begin with, is not enormously helpful, since he must then take on the majority of the work for himself. But then, this also means that he does not have the constraints of so many previous thinkers, who might have turned away from a path filled with possibilities and discouraged anyone seeking knowledge there after them.
He does not find the answer he wants in time- but he does find an answer that will serve, one that will allow his patient to resume their lost path. He tells this to their family, and the Priest of Light- and their responses stun him. They have lost someone dear to them, and he has worked so hard to find a way to restore them. Why would they not think of accepting such a thing?
If they cannot accept this path- cannot understand it, can barely conceive of the idea- then they are clearly unworthy of even having the idea suggested to them in the first place.
He takes all that he has found with him, and considers Wendel lessened.
