[August 22] [Original] Illegible

Title: Illegible
Day / Theme: August 22 -- I wish you'd let me in
Rating: PG
Series: Original (Fire and Water)
Characters: Seven, mention of Ciríchen
Summary: Why Seven can't read Ciri. (Yes, Ciri's headpeople are actually good for something; who knew?)
Notes: ...I hope posting this at almost two in the morning counts. It is today, isn't it? Anyway, here, have some Seven to make up for the flood of Cristian to come. And so end the prompts that make me think of birds.

It annoyed her terribly, in a vague sort of way, the way Thirteen thought. Not the non sequiturs and almost traceable jumps from one topic to another that were evident in the younger Agent’s speech; those were still Thirteen, as weird as they might be, and so Seven could conceivably have dealt with them. It was more the fact that when she reached for Thirteen’s mind it was absolutely impossible to tell what parts belonged to the girl she was actually looking for.

Seven knew none of this; it was manifested only by a floating, inexplicable annoyance at Thirteen that she did her best to ignore. She had forgotten how to read minds, or even that she ever knew; however, she prided herself on her ability to read people, find things out about them even she didn’t know. She never asked herself where her flashes of insight came from; there were many things she could remember that she didn’t want to know.
