[15 Sep 2005] [Card Captor Sakura] A Faint Flame
Title: A Faint Flame
Day/Theme: September 15/Your Eyes Closed
Series: Card Captor Sakura
Characters: Sakura, Yue, Kero
Rating: PG
Hehe... It's still September 15 here, though it's already the 16th in some places. I hope this counts!
They were in the center of a mysterious plain, darkness surrounding them, all but a single light coming from a fire ignited on Yue’s palm. The glow was faint, but enough for them to see each other. Yue and Kero stood protectively around Sakura, waiting for something to strike.
It was strange. One minute, Sakura, Kero, and Yue had been sitting in the living room, discussing another one of the mysterious happenings that had been taking place lately, and the next, an unexplained power had suddenly transported them to this place. Yue had said that they were located in a different dimension... and that they should expect nothing but the worst, for something or someone very powerful must have the strength to transport them between dimensions.
“W-what are we doing here?” Sakura asked, her voice echoing and bouncing off walls that weren’t there. She held her Star Wand, ready for any attack.
“I don’t know,” Kero said, “but I don’t expect anything good to come out of this.”
Yue was silently hovering of off the ground, his eyes closed, head dropped down, as if he was meditating. His hand that held the fire was extended between Sakura and Kero. The flame seemed to be growing faint by the second. There was barely a difference between keeping your eyes open or closed. “I sense a strange power here. It’s not the same presence of Clow Reed that has been amongst us lately. This is the doing of another evil.”
Sakura didn’t want to admit it, but she was suddenly becoming very scared. Another evil… Her grip on the Star Wand became tighter. What if they wouldn’t be able to find their way out? They didn’t even know how they got there in the first place.
Suddenly, the flame from Yue’s hand was gone and pure darkness washed over them. There was something about this darkness, something lingering in the air that made it seem wicked. And the temperature around them started to drop…
Just as fast as Yue’s fire had vanished, another light appeared. Sakura’s eyes blinked several times. Her eyes had been adjusted to the darkness that this light almost seemed painfully bright. She squinted her eyes and looked around. Now was the time to be afraid.
“Kero! Yue!” Sakura yelled out.
She spun around, her eyes searching around her. Where had they gone? They were just with her a second ago. Surely they wouldn’t desert her in a time like this… Her heart started to beat faster. Sakura knew she couldn’t think of a way to get out of here by herself. “What if that evil that Yue was talking about showed up? What if I’m not powerful enough to defeat it?” she thought, wishing for somebody, anybody, to be with her at the moment. At least she wasn’t alone in the dark.
Sakura reached into her pocket and took out the FLY card. “Maybe I can use FLY to find a way out…” she said aloud, hopefully holding the finger between her fingers.
“No, I don’t think so…” said a voice behind her.
