[August 7] [Shakespeare] The Sins of Richard of Gloucester

Title: The Sins of Richard of Gloucester
Day/Theme: August 7- seven for a secret never to be told
Fandom: Shakespeare's Richard III
Character: Lady Anne
Rating: PG
Note: Rather horribly rushed.

Marrying Gloucester has done nothing to assauge Anne's conviction that he is the devil. There is not one sin amongst the deadly seven she has not tried to apply to him.

Greed defines him- his every action seems to revolve around his gluttonous lust for power, and his envy of his brothers, whether biological or simply his fellow man. Not that he is innocent of the lust of a more common sort, as she is all too aware. Never, Anne thinks, did a woman lie stiller upon her wedding night.

His pride carries him through each day, and if it did not give him the courage to follow through on his greed and envy, she might think it a redeeming quality-- but it is audacity, really, and Anne bitterly accepts that it is through her own fault that she ever was deceived by it.

The one sin she cannot accuse him of honestly is sloth. Sloth might render him ineffective, and he is anything but.

All in his employ fear his wrath- even his inscrutable bride, insomuch as she has life left in her to fear at all. One thing is certain- he has wrung the fight out of her at last.
