[August 1] [Original] Heat Break
Title: Heat Break
Day/Theme: August 1- come up through the summer rain
Series: Original
Character/Pairing: Five sisters
Rating: G
The youngest laid half-curled on the sofa, one hand almost touching the ground but not quite, and not encouraging anything to grow to it. Nothing that would have grown now would have stayed healthy for long, though, given the heat.
The youngest was not the only one affected, either- the middle sister was dozing fitfully, trying to conserve energy, the second youngest snapping her fingers to call up her lightning, and the second oldest moving around the room fretfully. Only the oldest seemed settled, and she might simply have been asleep- it was hard to tell with her, sometimes.
“I wish it would start,” the second youngest said, clapping her hands together and gazing out the window, at the sky-
and a moment later, thunder boomed out.
“Finally,” the middle sister grumbled, getting up from her chair, but the youngest sister shot up from the sofa and beat her to the door. “Hey-!”
“Rain, rain, rain!” the youngest sang, stretching out her hands as the first drops fell and her sisters came out to join her, the second youngest joining her in a dance a moment later with grass springing around their feet while the middle sister was content to stand back and let the rain fall on her.
