Sometimes Hiroki wondered if it was a good thing to date a younger man. Sure, there was only four years between them, but sometimes those measly four years felt like eons. This was one of those moments. 19-year-old Kusama Nowaki had convinced him (more like tricked him) into going to the beach. It wasn't that Hiroki hated the beach, but what he didn't understand was why Nowaki hadn't even gone into water. He sat there in trunks beside him, just watching. Luckily Hiroki's shades probably hid most of his blush as he eyed Nowaki.

“Stop staring at me, you weirdo! Go swim or something... it's what you wanted!”

Nowaki blinked, eyes taking on a confused look. “I didn't want to come to the beach to swim, Hiro-san.”

Hiroki blinked, his lips curving into a small frown. “Why did you choose the beach then? We could have gone anywhere!”

Nowaki smiled brightly. “Because I wanted to see Hiro-san in swimming trunks.”

Hiroki was sure that his blush would be visible now, shades or not. He clutched his book tighter to his chest as he grit his teeth. “Well, you've seen me! Now go play in the water, brat!”

Nowaki frowned. “How cold, Hiro-san... besides, I can't swim.”

There was a long pause as Hiroki stared at Nowaki who innocently stared back... and then, out of nowhere, Hiroki began to laugh. Nowaki's frown deepened as Hiroki cracked up over something like that.

“I'm serious, Hiro-san!”

Hiroki stifled his laughing, taking off his sunglasses to look at Nowaki properly, wetness collected in his eyes from laughing. “I just can't believe you haven't learned to swim!”

Nowaki looked down at the sand. “We didn't go very far in the orphanage and we definitely didn't go to pools or anything. Too many kids and too much money.”

Hiroki's mouth snapped shut. Sometimes he forgot that Nowaki had been an orphan. He shifted on the blanket, eying the water for a moment before snickering again. “You can't swim but you chose the beach. You're an idiot.”

Nowaki watched Hiroki who had an amused smile on his face... though the laughing had been about him, it was nice to hear Hiroki laugh and smile like this. Nowaki's own lips curled into a smile and he leaned over and kissed his lover's lips. Hiroki jolted and pushed Nowaki away, watching the young man fall into the sand.

“Idiot! We're in public!”

“I can't help it, Hiro-san is just too cute.”

Hiroki flushed, putting his book down. Nowaki opened his mouth to ask him where he was going when Hiroki got into the water. Nowaki watched him go a little further and frowned, cupping his mouth to shout out to his lover.

“That's unfair, Hiro-san!”

Hiroki shouted something back, but Nowaki didn't care... he was glad Hiro-san was having a good time regardless.

(THE END)
