{July o9}[Kingdom Hearts]Short drabble is short
Title: Sink or Float
Day/Theme: o9 July - but I'll come back to haunt you if I drown
Series: Kingdom Hearts
Character/Pairing: Demyx, Roxas

The short blond stood at the edge of the water, staring out at the ocean. How was it that he was the last one out? He flinched when a wave slipped over his ankles. Even Axel had already gone in, after some goading. Sun beating down, he wriggled his feet in the wet sand, so that they got swallowed up and disappeared into little lumps on the beach. The group had decided nothing was getting done anyways, and Xemnas was off 'taking care of something', so they warped off to a beach for the day.
Why would he know how to swim? He'd never seen water in this magnitude in his entire life. Well, except when Demyx had surged through the hallway and nearly drowned everyone with a wall of water that filled the entire area. But that was only for a few seconds, and it was actually controlled by someone. Roxas started when someone burst out of the water towards him, somersaulting before getting up to walk over. The taller of the two grinned, tugging his wrist.
"Hey, come on, thirteen! The water isn't even that cold." An unamused stare was all Demyx received for his efforts. The mulleted boy wasn't deterred, instead just pulling the younger boy into the surf, first to his calf, then just below his knee before the other managed to stop him again. Demyx just shook his head, still grinning. "Come on, I know you'll know how to swim. Plus- what's the worst that could happen? You freak and a wave pushes you back to shore or something? The water doesn't even get above your shoulders for a long time- it's shallow way out." He pointed to where the others were to demonstrated.
"There's rip currents." He hunched his shoulders and followed the other further into the water a few feet. Demyx sighed, tilting his head to look back at Roxas. "I've never swum, ever."
The water user paused, clacking his tongue on the roof of his mouth as he thought of how to put it, a wave crashing around the pair and drenching the smaller boy up to his shoulders. He ignored the yelp as he started to speak. "I bet your somebody knows how to swim, so why wouldn't you?" Bet- he knew. The files said the boy went out and fooled around on and island all summer with his friends. Of course Sora could swim. With sudden movement, he tugged down on Roxas' arm, pulling him under as they reached chest deep on the boy. Demyx let go, laughing with mirth as the boy shot back up, spluttering.
"If I drown, I'll haunt you so bad that you wont want to drink a glass of water!" Roxas lunged at Demyx with the promise that reminded the taller that Roxas really was just a kid, and not anything more. He pushed the other down while he wasn't expecting it. Neither of them pointed it out when the boy kicked away, feet fluttering easily before he stood up, dropping back down under the water with his own little smile so he wouldn't be seen. Demyx didn't want to point out that he was right out of kindness. Roxas didn't point it out, out of pride.
