Day/Theme: o8 July - time will kiss the world good-bye
Series: Original
Character/Pairing: Kristoph/Blythe, Illum
Rating: PG/PG-13

"...Wait! Is that you, Kristoph?" The two boys sitting on the edge of their tablet turned to look at the voice in unison, for the world looking like friends who had known each other forever instead of knowing each other for two summers, which was the truth. The girl running towards them had a confused expression on her face as she stared at the tanner of the two boys. She struggled through the sand as the white folds of her dress got caught around her ankles, ground catching against the hems. Neither of them thought to help her. One hand tried to pull up her skirts, other shoving her mass of brunette curls out of her face. The freckled boy nudged another person on the tablet.

"Don't you wish we would move already before she gets here?" Kristoph glared at his friend when the friend turned back with a grin.

"Shush, you know who she is."

"Oh, you mean a flaming bi-" Kristoph slapped a hand over Illum's mouth, looking over at her. He cringed inwardly, feeling color creep into his ears. Blythe - the girl - put a hand on her hip as Kristoph slipped off the tablet to stand out of habit. A questioning frown was painted on her face as she looked at the blacksmith.

"What are you doing? You aren't planning on going anywhere with these gypsies." A pointed glance at the still seated Illum. Kristoph was only half listening- this was what, maybe the fourth time she'd ever started a conversation with him? His world had solely existed on his wor, and her. Not in a way that he'd ever have a chance to be with her- he existed on saying hello and hoping she would answer, asking about her when her father or their servants would stop by his shop, asking if she was well. Relishing the times he could count on one hand that she'd actually initiate a talk with him first. Now though, he was leaving that world, uprooting himself.

"The troupe leaves today, if you recall. It's the end of the season." Kristoph paused as her blue, blue eyes turned to him, having been half glaring at Illum, who'd been smirking back at her. His red-headed friend turned his attention to him as well. "Er... we're leaving for the mountains in the middle of the hour." Blythe's eyes sparked, crossing her arms over her chest after he spoke.

"We? You're really leaving with them then?" A voice called out from the head of the grouping of tablets, warning that all the striders- the animals pulling the floating platforms- would be ordered to move in a few minutes. Kristoph looked at the cluster, back at Blythe, before nodding. His feet shuffled the sand slightly as one hand went to the back of his neck.

Blythe's voice rose in pitch, grabbing his wrist as he turned to jump on next to his friend. She opened her mouth, thinking for a second before she spoke. "If you leave, I won't wait for your return." Illum laughed sharply, cutting in before Kristoph could respond.

"Wait? Darling, he's been waiting for you. You're the one who never planned anything past feeling like you were a superior shit. Kristoph, you have to decide fast." The girl looked fro one friend to the other, her lips pursed. The brown haired man sighed, hand dropping from his neck.

"It's true. If I stayed, nothing would change really, right?" He hopped on the platform as the announcing voice started again. She tightened her grip n his wrist slightly. Leaning forwards, he used the claimed hand to gently cup her cheek. Kristoph kissed the girl, closing his eyes against the sting edging them. It was only a moment, the striders stirring and beginning to move forward. He slipped his arm out of her grasp and leaned back with Illum without a word. Blythe just stood, shocked. The freckled boy ignored her for once, instead putting an arm over his friend's shoulders and whispered into his ear a 'thank you'. Kristoph shook his head. "It was time- I had to say goodbye to that world, or I'd never get away from it otherwise, not really."

((I didn't get time to proof it. I didn't mean for Blythe to be such a biiiitch... oh well.

Edit: That is so weird. :| 'Blayne' is returned to her proper title 'Blythe'))
