{July o7}[Original] Flowers

Title: Flowers
Day/Theme: July o7 - slowly twisting the lilac stalks
Series: Original
Character/Pairing: Seldomn, Cohl
Rating: PG-13 (language plox)

The breeze rustled through the bush, leaves whispering to each other in the dusk, their color only lit by the leftovers of the sun's rays. It really was like a patchy field, the lilacs stretching out all the way to the edge of the mountains nearby, eventually diminishing at the other side into patches, until eventually it gave way to gold grass. Two figures knelt in the swath of flowers, almost swallowed by the shadowed green and only visible because of their silhouettes on the paled purple. If the people sleeping in the town a few miles happened to be out on the road, they might have noticed the sprigs of white interrupting the normality, connected to the dark figures. However, most everyone was already tucked into their houses and apartments, the closest to seeing them rushing to get the last of their tasks on their farms finished so they too could turn in. The ones awake didn't have the time to look out at the horizon and appreciate the last colors of red and gold clawing the edge of the sky, forcing the rest of the dome of air to hold onto the color blue.

Seldomn let the crickets drown out any words he would use, silent as the other angel gently sifted through the stems to the best of the wild flowers.

"Now, the trick is to twist the stems. Not to fast though- then it doesn't look so harsh, like we just slashed them off of the bush and shoved them together into a bouquet." She smiled, tilting her head to look at the freckled boy out of the corner of her eye to make sure he was actually looking at what she was showing him instead of zoning into space like he so often did. Cohl turned back to what she was presenting, grip gentle as she twisted the stem and pressed her fingernail lightly into the green. The flower seperated from the stem easily.

Seldomn rolled his eyes, looking around to the streetlamps of the city. "So why are we doing this anyways? We should be getting work done, not prancing around gathering wildflowers like a couple of those hollow brained schoolgirls." He shrugged his long coat tighter around himself, shifting where he was crouched in the dirt.

"You needed to unwind- you're always walking around like you have a stick up your ass. Now pick a flower already. I hear its like meditation" She stuck her tongue out at the deadpan expression he gave to her.

Seldomn grumbled to himself, "I'm just one of the few that actually cares about my work..." Even though, the blond gave in to his friend's pressuring. He grabbed the closest flower to him, mimicking the movement she'd shown and pushed his thumbnail into the stem as he twirled the stalk between his fingers. It broke off less clean, tendrils of sinew left from the rest of the stalk.

She squinted at the lilac, and shook her head. "It's no good with the extra crap. No, don't try to tear them off- that's not the point. Just throw it away." Seldomn glanced over at her before letting it fall to the ground, dust puffing up around the flower as petals touched down. He stood up, wings splaying out into the dark- the two couldn't even really pretend there was enough light in the sky to concentrate on such small things. Shaking his head at her, he held out a hand as she opened her mouth to demand he help her up.

"It's far too dark for you to torture me anymore. Let's go, shall we?" Cohl laughed at his question, pulling herself up with his hand. He didn't help any- it was more like pulling oneself up on a wall than being pulled up by a person.

"Fine fine, lets go then, you dolt."
