Forgiven (July o4 - even if I lose you, I'll get you back)

Title: Forgiven
Day/Theme: July o4 - even if I lose you, I'll get you back
Series: Loveless
Characters: Yuiko and Ritsuka
Rating: G

Ears tilted back, he glared at the front door with determination. Almost as if he thought sheer willpower would make the barricade fall. A flush dusted his cheeks- he'd like to think it was from the rain and cold rather than the task at hand -as he lifted a hand and rapped out his presence on the stoop. Finger picking self consciously at the edge of a band-aid on his cheek, Ritsuka glanced back at the street. He could always run back home before someone answered the door. It was half an hour to six, anyways. He didn't know why he was here- his friend had ticked him off again, and he told her not to ever talk to him again. That he meant it this time. And he really did- he meant it like the clouds meant that they never would let the sun shine today, which it didn't. The sun would already be setting behind all the rain, and nobody would see it for even one minute in their city. That was what he meant when he told Yuiko that before he ran off. Yet here he was, waiting desperately for someone to open the door to Yukio's house.

Which it did just a moment after he thought it, a blond girl peering through the crack, ears perked in curiosity as to why someone would be outside in such bad weather. Her eyes widened when she saw who it was, hand flinging the door open, it banging against the wall in her haste.

"Ritsuka, what on earth are you doing out?! You're all wet! Yuiko- - I mean I don't want Ritsuka to catch a cold! Are you alright? What's wrong?" My parents' aren't home yet. I-" Yuiko stopped short after a moment, ears tilting back slightly as a worried expression crossed her face. "Ritsuka said he didn't want to see me, so why did he come? Now you have to look at me! I'm- -" Ritsuka shook his head, eyebrows furrowing together.

"Don't apologize! That's what I came here to do! I.. I feel bad about telling you not to talk to me. I'm sorry. Just don't say that to me when we get into fights." Ritsuka frowned, flushing at how dumb he sounded. Yukio on the other hand, smiled for the first time since he came in and chimed in as she grabbed his coat and flung it on the coat rack.

"Yui- I won't say it anymore, but isn't it true? I said that even though Ritsuka really meant it when he told me to go away, he'd come back because we were friends. I lost you in the crowd when you ran away after school and thought I'd never see you again." She threw her arms around the shorter classmate, not seeing his unamused expression- they were in the same class, of course she would have seen him again. "But you came back. I really am sorry!"

"I dont care. But forgive me, please!" Ritsuka closed his eyes tight, hands tight fists hanging at his sides. Yuiko pulled away to look at him, hands on his shoulders. He opened his eyes and blinked, mouth a pursed line as he waited for her response.

Yuiko just smiled wider, tilting her head as she looked down at the smaller boy. The words were light, relieved, "Of course I forgive you, Ritsuka-kun! Now stop worrying. My mom got some PopTarts, do you want a package?"

"Sure."

(I've never done a Loveless fanfic. :) It's pretty fluffy, but w/e. I think these two's friendship is adorable. Yuiko's one of my favorite characters, just because her kidness overturns her low i.q. <3 It bothered me to write the third person instead of third when Yuiko talked to Ritsuka, but it was to keep IC. xD; )
