[Sept. 12] [James Bond] "Marian"

Title: Marian
Day/Theme: Sept. 12 - Dear Confucius
Series: James Bond
Character/Pairing: Bond/Jessica (OFC)
Rating: G

Note: Also semi-related to my novel-length WIP, Blind Man's Bluff.

"Dear Confucius," she said with a laugh, slamming the book shut. It stirred up just enough dust to make them both cough a little.

"Was he the one who said -"

"No, probably not." Jessie cut him off. "He gets all sorts of stuff attributed to him, but it's not. Like Churchill."

Bond smiled. "Madam, I may be ugly, but you are drunk and...no, blast, I can never get that one right."

"Sir, I may be a librarian, but you are too stupid to remember a simple
saying, and I can get a new job tomorrow."

"Oh," said Bond, still smiling. "So that's how it goes." He didn't mind it when she ribbed him, not really. It was rather sweet.

"I could do your job, you great clumsy oaf," she said, laughing. "What with your leaving papers around and spilling your
secrets to everything that wears a skirt. Are you a real
spy, or is this some kind of Candid Camera skit?"

He just kept smiling, trying to maintain that facade of secrecy, but he knew she was starting to pick everything apart. How long before she knows? How long before she keeps asking and I finally tell her to keep her quiet?

It was no longer a matter of international security. It was a matter of pride.

Confucius say, he who has almost lost job have no right to be proud!

Dear Confucius.

Dear Jessie.

Dear me.
