[28 May] [Original] On Quiet Starlit Nights

Title: On Quiet Starlit Nights
Day/Theme: May 28- Under the stars and smaller than men
Series: Original
Character/Pairing: A species of bird
Rating: G

It is on quiet nights such as this that they come out, creeping slowly and silently, glancing each way as they go. If they see anything unusual, or are startled- and they are easy to startle, these birds- they flee back into their cover, and stay there for as long as they feel they need to feel safe again, which may be quite some time. If nothing troubles them, though, they open their wings and take off, dark shapes in a dark sky meeting one another. How they tell that they are with their own kind and not with predators is of some mystery- observers who have studied them for years say that these birds are diurnal- but their predators are also diurnal, and would not dance.

For that is what they do, on these quiet starlit nights, and for that you only need to know that your partner is there and willing.
