Title: Of Dancers

The shadows in Halloween Town have always known how to dance. They haven’t always been part of the festival, of course- fancies change from year to year, though they’re always of a mind to slide in somewhere, and there are plenty of places for shadows to do that.

The new shadows that come from somewhere outside interest them, at first, as they do Jack, and the native shadows sidle up to them. What can you do, they ask, how do you dance? The strangers are unfriendly, though, and the native shadows pull away, parts of them drifting away on ghost-driven breezes. These ones do not dance, they decide, and try to tell Jack- but it’s always difficult to convince the Pumpkin King of something he hasn’t seen himself.

They will try, though. They won’t be usurped by those who don’t play fairly.
