Becoming an animal generally helped with the whole avoiding human attention things, and he wanted that sometimes. Particularly now, after that whole mess. He hadn’t asked for that- well, except that if he thought about it, he had, in a way, hadn’t he? He’d asked for a life, and… that was what had happened. Life, and family, and children.

Of course, that happened with wolves, too. But he was pretty much happy with heading off to be a lone wolf, or finding a pack to fit in with for however long until he felt ready to try and fit in, or alongside, with humanity again. Only trouble with that was remembering how to be something close to human once he’d got to that point, something that was pretty difficult when submerged.

Which left him with the choice of something closer. Like a dog.

He grumbled to himself, and began to change shape.
