[May 4] [Junjou Romantica] Family Matters

Title: Family Matters
Author: [livejournal.com profile] deecherrywolf
Day/Theme: May 4 – this too shall pass
Series: Junjou Romantica
Character/Pairing: Terrorist

Miyagi Yoh had not expected to suddenly get a phone call from his mother, telling him his father had passed away. Miyagi Yoshiyuki had been at the ripe age of 67 and had seemed as healthy as a horse as far as Miyagi could remember. But it had been awhile since he had been in contact with dear old dad, occasionally he'd get vegetables from them, but he had never expected the solemn phone call. And worst of all his 63-year-old mother, Miyagi Hanako, had insisted that she stay with her son for a little while.

Miyagi had tried to persuade her otherwise, but she was persistent and in the end, it was futile to argue with her.

Hanako made it close to evening time. She wore a floral designed dress and held her suitcase gingerly in her hands. The instant she walked into Miyagi's apartment she surveyed around and then frowned at him.

“Just as I expected! A complete mess. Yoh! You should try to focus on cleaning more or else you'll never get a girlfriend or get married.”

Miyagi laughed hollowly at his mother's comment. He had cleaned the place to make it spotless! But then again, his mother was rather hard to please. He frowned, wondering what his mother would say when she finds out about Shinobu. He shuddered, not to sure if he ever really wanted his mother finding out... especially with all the talk of marriage and women.

“Miyagi! I thought I'd try making this new fried pumpkin and rice recipe toni--”

Hanako blinked at Shinobu, who held the door open with a key stuck in it and looked at her confusedly. Normally he'd get mad at Miyagi having someone over, especially someone of the opposite sex, but this... she was kind of old. Miyagi cleared his throat.

“Shinobu. This is my mother. Mom, this is Takatsuki Shinobu. Risako's little brother.”

Hanako blinked, recognition dawning in her eyes. “Oh yeah, you were married to that Takatsuki girl! What did you do there, Yoh?”

Shinobu bowed politely to her. “I'm sorry for your loss, ma'am.”

Hanako eyed Shinobu a moment, then smiled gently. “I see my son has already gossiped about it... thank you Takatsuki-san. Though... I hope you don't find me rude for asking this but, why are you cooking for my son?”

Miyagi looked at Shinobu who looked slightly stunned by the question. Shinobu forced a small smile on his face. “Miyagi is kind enough for me to practice my cooking on him.”

Somewhat safe territory, but Miyagi still kept quiet. Hanako hummed, eying the boy for a second before turning back to her son.

“This is why you need a girlfriend Yoh! Having a young man cook for you... well, it's unattractive and weird.”

Shinobu bristled slightly at that. He felt the urge to tell her off when Hanako excused herself and went into Miyagi's room to rest. Shinobu glanced at Miyagi who sighed.

“I'm sorry. She came on such short notice.”

“It's okay. She is your mom, after all.”

Miyagi's apologetic smile slowly morphed into a teasing one. “Though a nice young woman cooking is more appealing than a man...”

Shinobu glared at him. “Are you saying you don't like my cooking?”

Miyagi wrapped his arms around his lover. “No, I love you enough to put up with your cooking.”

Shinobu elbowed him lightly and Miyagi continued. “Besides, you're too cute when you're cooking.”

Shinobu hummed in approval, ignoring the warmth in his cheeks, and accepted Miyagi's kiss. He moaned lightly when their tongues caressed for a moment. Miyagi pulled away gently.

“I'd love to continue this to the bed room, but my mother is here.”

“Yeah, I know...”

“Don't worry, she'll be gone before you know it.”

“Yeah right.”

“I'll see you later.”

Miyagi kissed Shinobu before he left.

As soon as Shinobu had left, Hanako stumbled out, her face a rosy color and she muttered that an old friend wanted company and she'd be staying there for a bit, then heading back home. Miyagi had tried to ask her if that would really be okay, but his mother seemed to evade him a little... and he couldn't help but wonder as he opened a drawer to find Shinobu's key if his mother had witnessed him kissing Shinobu.

If so, she had taken it better than he thought.
