Touya wakes up and realizes that Shindou has not yet come to bed. He decides to get a glass of water and pads quietly out to the kitchen. He finds Shindou instead, next to the goban. Asleep.

Touya looks over the game that Shindou has set out. It’s the last game that Sai played, against his father, except that this time…

It’s different. This time Black wins. It’s a clever move.

“That’s why… isn’t it?” Shindou says, asleep still. “You came… "

"...show me… this..."

"...Sai...”

Touya gently takes the stone from Shindou’s hand and puts it back into the bowl.
