[September 8th] [xxxHolic] Pondering the Heavens
Title: Pondering the Heavens
Day/Theme: Sep. 8/"Twin stars"
Series: xxxHolic
Character/Pairing: Maru, Moro, Watanuki
Rating: G
Notes: So, uh...this turned more along the lines of "twins and stars" instead of "twin stars",
but...*cough*
Maru and Moro have never seen stars. They’ve read about them in the heavy books that Mistress Yuuko sometimes lets them look through, and they’ve heard Watanuki mention them here and there (usually in comparison to Himawari-chan’s sparkling eyes, or something), but they’ve never actually seen any.
One day they ambush Watanuki while he’s cleaning, and ask what stars look like. He gives them that Look, the one that he gets when he remembers they’re more (or less) than the cheerful children they appear to be.
"A star...well, it’s bright, and pretty from far away, but if you got too close to one it would burn you...something like that."
"But what’s a star do? What is it for?"
Watanuki sits back on his heels, thinking. "Well, you can use them to tell time, or to figure out where you are, and...some people say that stars can grant wishes."
"Like Mistress?" Moro suggests excitedly.
"That’s not really—"
"Mistress is a star!"
“Mistress is a star!”
"Watanuki said Mistress was a star!" they shout in unison, dancing around the room in delight. Before Watanuki can protest, they dash off to tell Yuuko of their new discovery, leaving one defeated servant to prepare himself for the teasing he will no doubt endure over dinner tonight.
