Excerpt: Yugi isn't the same, the Pharaoh thinks, shuffling his cards. There is determination in his eyes. He sets the cards down at his left.

They draw from their appropriate stacks, take a mere glance at the cards in hand, and then a heavy silent gaze towards each other.

Yugi flips each card with clockwork ease. Sometimes it feels like the Pharaoh is watching a mirror, until a childish smile turns the corner's of Yugi's mouth and quickly vanishes, a forced seriousness masking the trembling inside.

He's afraid, his fears hasn't changed, but he's not the same, still.

The final move—the boy makes it quick, but it's not painless. There are tears at the corner of his eyes, and a flash of regret.

They all know he did the right thing, and that is why the boy is not like he was before.
