It was way too early.

Far too early for the kind of conversation that would only result in a headache. So why did Nowaki persist on having one anyways?

Nowaki, blissfully unaware of his lover's developing migraine, places his head a top his palms and murmurs. “What do you think of kids, Hiro-san?”

“I don't.”

“Eh? Not even once?”

Hiroki flushed, glaring at his younger lover. “Well, I have, but that's when I was young... and besides, I'm in love with you, so I can't have any.”

Thinking he had won the argument, he began to eat his breakfast. Nowaki tipped his head lightly.
“What about adoption?”

Hiroki almost chocked on the food in his mouth. He forced it down with the water Nowaki handed him, he sputtered at his lover, head beginning to throb... yes, way too early.

“You're serious, aren't you?

Nowaki frowned. “What made you think I wasn't?”

Hiroki colored up quickly. “B-But... it's just...”

He was at a loss for words. Never did he imagine Nowaki wanting kids... in fact, the subject had never been brought up before. The fact that Nowaki now revealed that he indeed wanted kids put him on edge. Adopting a kid... was a big step.... and he wasn't sure he wanted to be a part of it. Kids were trouble... and a lot of responsibility! Not only that, they were both rarely home as it was, how would they care for a kid? He quickly noticed Nowaki's crestfallen look.

“I'm sorry Hiro-san. I won't bring it up again, so please forget about it.”

Hiroki bit his lip, he didn't mean to upset Nowaki, but adopting? It was a little bit too much! He sighed. “I have to go... I'll see you when I get home, okay?”
“Have a good day, Hiro-san.”

“So I hear your students are having a test today.”

Hiroki snorted. “News travels fast.”

“Yeah, well... kids like to keep me up to date about Kamijou the Devil.”

Hiroki rolled his eyes, stiffly organizing his papers. He was already in a sour mood, the last thing he needed was the Professor being all over his back as well. Unfortunately for him, it seemed that the Professor loved it when he was feeling gloomy... easy picking grounds, he supposed. Miyagi eyeballed him before speaking.

“Is everything all right Kamijou? Med student working a little too hard?”

Hiroki growled. “It's none of your business!”
“Or is it something more personal?”

Hiroki flinched, making Miyagi grin. Hiroki stomped off toward his classroom, test papers in hand. Why did Professor Miyagi bug him so much? You'd think living with some one 17 years younger than yourself would be taxing... but no, Miyagi always seemed full of energy. He sighed. But the fact that the Professor could easily see that something was wrong made Hiroki think more on the matter of adopting, seeing Nowaki's sad face in his minds eye.

Nowaki had been browsing through some of the books Hiro-san allowed him to read all day. He had the day off, so nothing better to do than to relax all day. So when Hiroki finally came through the door, he happily closed the book and made his way over to his lover. He opened his mouth to greet him, but Hiroki put a hand up, face flushed and eyes narrowed. Nowaki blinked in confusion.

Hiroki held up a finger. “If... If, we were to adopt... we would start to look for a new apartment.”

Nowaki's eyes widened and began to dance with happiness. “Hiro-san...”

Hiroki looked away from Nowaki, too embarrassed to keep eye contact. “I've just been thinking it over, and if you're ready for a kid... and really want one with me... I'd at least think about it.... maybe.”

Nowaki's smile only widened at that. “Oh Hiro-san!”
Big arms engulfed Hiroki. “I'll get the apartment brochures.”

“I said if, you big idiot!! IF!!

Hiroki cried out in protest as Nowaki began pulling him toward the living room, though he liked the space of the apartment here and the location, where ever Nowaki wanted to go, he'd go with him.
