Title: Forgotten Notes
Author: [livejournal.com profile] deecherrywolf
Day/Theme: Mar 03 / that unnoticed and that necessary
Series: Junjou Romantica
Character/Pairing: Egoist

Kamijou Hiroki awoke blissfully. Last night had been wonderful, though he'd never voice it out loud. Last night had been his birthday and Nowaki had treated him to dinner and a night full of loving. Though Nowaki normally did that, it had been especially romantic that night. He stretched a little as he sat up in bed, he looked on the side he expected Nowaki to be in, but the man wasn't there. He felt himself panic. His eyes flickered to his alarm clock... no note. No note and no Nowaki.... who knows where the man was at. He got out of bed, wrapping the blanket around his waist and headed into the kitchen. Surely the note was in there. He didn't see any note, but the calender had today marked as a day Nowaki had off.

He walked back into the bedroom, slumping against the door as he closed it. Where was Nowaki? Thoughts of the man disappearing for a year, going to America, flashed in his mind. He winced. Nowaki wouldn't do that again. Surely he wouldn't. He quickly got dressed and went to work.

The first thing Miyagi Yoh noticed about his assistant was that he looked angry and upset. And normally when Hiroki was angry and upset, it was time to back off. But Miyagi wasn't a person to listen to thoughts like that. He latched onto the other man. “Kamijou~! Shinobu-chin is moving on to leeks!”
Hiroki glowered at him. “Why should I care!?”

Miyagi blinked and allowed Hiroki to shove him. He raised an eyebrow. “What's wrong? Trouble in paradise?”
The 31-year-old Hiroki growled and excused himself out of the office. He walked into the classroom, seeing some students tense up as he walked in. He began his lesson, but his mind drifted elsewhere. Where is Nowaki? Why didn't he leave a note? They were just beginning to communicate better and really begin to understand one and other... and now this!

Perhaps he was jumping to conclusions, but he couldn't help but fear the worst about it... like the America incident... he shivered. He hoped that wasn't the case. After the first two classes of the day, he decided he needed to go see if Nowaki had come back. He walked into the office, Miyagi opened his mouth to say something, but Hiroki growled. “I need to be going, I'm sorry Professor, could you take over for me...”
“... I suppose, but I just wanted to let you know your phone has been beeping since you left it in here.”
“Eh?”

He quickly grabbed the phone, flipping it open. A voice mail... made at 6:45 am... He clicked the listen option and held it to his ear.

Ah, Hiro-san... I'm sorry I didn't leave an actual note, but I figured this would be just as good. I got called into work today they are understaffed and busy today... I hope you're not angry with me. I'll be home at 6 and we can go out for dinner, my treat. I love you Hiro-san. I'll see you when I get home.

Hiroki's whole face was red with embarrassment and anger at himself... He licked his lips. Why hadn't he noticed his phone beeping or the small light flashing since this morning? He couldn't help but feel embarrassed at the fact he had ignored his phone. He looked over at Miyagi, who was grinning... who obviously heard the message and could put two and two together.
“So, do you still need to leave from work, hm?”

Hiroki flushed, his heart fluttering in happiness, but Miyagi's words put a small damper on them. “Shut up Professor!”

Miyagi shook his head as Hiroki left back toward the classroom, high in spirit. Sometimes, he wondered if that man had some sort of bi-polar disorder.
