It wasn't often that Nanoha got to see Arf smile. Because she was Fate's familiar, Arf had to spend half of her time in her dog guise when she was around Nanoha's other friends, even though Alisa and Suzuka already had an idea what she looked like as a humanoid. Still, Arf was forever grateful for Nanoha and Yuuno for saving them from Precia, and she displayed her gratitude by hugging Nanoha and repeatedly licking one of her cheeks. Nanoha was unsure how to react, since Fate was watching, so she simply returned Arf's hug and laughed along with everyone.
