[Jan. 26][Tales of Legendia] At the Heart of Things

Title: At the Heart of Things
Day/Theme: Jan. 26, 2009 "sine qua non"
Series: Tales of Legendia
Character/Pairing: Fenimore, Walter, Jay
Rating: G

How had that single automata started to move without the power of the whisper crystal being specifically applied to it was a question that Fenimore did not ask. After an armful of unsatisfactory answers over the past week or so, she was feeling that it was a waste of time to even ask. Senel and the others had started it up, it had continued to follow her after Walter had taken charge of the others, and it seemed to possess a mind- or at least programing- of its own. That was all Fenimore needed to know.

"Our ancestors were pretty smart to be able to create these things," the pig-tailed girl commented. Walter nodded curtly. "They really were blessed by Nerifes," she continued, investigating whether or not she could pull him into a conversation. Walter had never been one to waste words. Maurits was the same way. ...Maybe it was just the influence of Shirley that had suddenly caused her to develop such a desire to divulge her feelings in a flood of words. Either way, it didn't really seem like a bad thing.

Walter didn't respond. As usual, his heart was inscrutable to those around him. Fenimore had no idea what moved him.

Jay, looking on at the scene, had his own guesses, supported by all the intelligence he managed to ferret out here and there, about the reasons and true nature of Fenimore, Walter, and even the automata. ...Of course, that didn't mean he was about to go over and test those theories out by telling them. ...Not without the appropriate price, he certainly wouldn't.
