"I don't think he likes me," Julian commented quietly as Arigh left the infirmary.

"Oh, how could anyone not like you?" Kallo chuckled sarcastically. He knew that the doctor would get his drift. "How could anyone not love your cold black heart?"

"Hearts," the stern doctor corrected sourly, cleaning off the countertop where he had taken care of the lieutenant's small injury.

"You care whether or not he likes you?" Stuart piped up curiously. That was certainly a new development he would be interested in hearing about.

Julian turned his yellow eyes on the chaplain, showing just how unemotional about the matter he felt at the moment. "...Do I look like I care if he likes me?"

"If it's any consolation, I don't think anyone else on board cares for him much either," Kallo pointed out. And Arigh didn't seem interested in them either- except for Marta, but that was her own personal problem.

"No, you don't look like you care, but you do sound that way," Stuart replied, "And I've gotten to know what you're like, Julian. You don't say things that you don't mean. That's the way you are."

Julian put away the medicine and wiped down the counter, still eyeing the priest severely, "Don't get all cocky now, thinking that you know me."

"Barqia!" Kallo exclaimed happily, "You two are funnier than a Parz and Malle skit these days!"

"I don't even know what that is," Julian shook his head. "If you're done down here, Stuart, I suggest you ship off. I've had enough of this nonsense."

"Parz and Malle are comedians, right? The fellow with the glass eye and the tall one with the dyed hair," Stuart inquired. He had a feeling he had seen clips of their act on the internet before.

"Yeah, but if you don't know Lingwan, you aren't understanding half of it," Kallo informed him, "The translation just doesn't catch all the weird nuances of their performance."

"Maybe we can watch it together sometime and you can help me with the jokes then."

"Yes, that's a wonderful idea!" Julian urged them, "Go watch some now! Kallo, you can go with him!"

"Don't you need me, Doctor?"

"Bah, not at all," the white-haired man sniffed, "I'll get double the work done if you do me the favor of taking Father Stuart out of my way!"

"If you say so," Kallo shrugged.

"What was that?" Stuart wondered, as Kallo pulled him away.
