Rating: PG

"With Her Holiness gone, I think it's about time that you cleared out of here, Mr. Rembrandt," Selenia said, an edge to her sweet voice. "I won't be needing your services and I'll be officially ordained at the end of the week. You probably..." here she softened up slightly, "Want to take the opportunity to say farewell to the prince."

"I plan on staying on in his service actually," the strategist replied calmly.

His words had the expected effect on the holy woman. Her lip quirked up awkwardly, "What? ...You know he doesn't need someone like you around. He'll just go back to being an ordinary boy. ...What do you think you'll do for him?"

"Be his violin teacher," Jin smirked sarcastically.

Selenia looked away in disgust. She knew he had be to up to something- but what? He really was a disgusting foreigner. She just couldn't see what Holy Matrika Saraki had seen in this man. Why had she needed a strategist at all? "Jin," she dropped the meaningless formalities, "I know you don't like me, and I don't like you, so pack up your bags, call off your dogs, and leave Sukaki. I never want to see you again."

Jin turned away as well. "That's your choice, Selenia," he said, heading off down the hall in search of the only one here who meant anything to him.

"Saraki!" The sight of the scrawny prince brought a smile to his face. "Just the person I was looking for!"

"Hello, Jin," the prince's own smile was light and fragile. He was still reeling from his adoptive mother's death, but Jin's steady presence was a comfort to him.

Jin opened his arms and Saraki fell gracefully into his grasp, leaning his head against the strategist's chest. "I will do everything in my power to protect you," Jin said.

"I don't need to be protected..." Saraki murmured.

"I'm going to make you a king," Jin thought firmly. "It's the least I can do, and it's what you deserve. I'll be washed in a shower of blood so that you can have a long reign of peace. With your gentleness and compassion, I know what you can achieve. I will set the stage for you, Saraki."
