Sidebar to the massive mess of an AU that is "Burn it Down" (actually occurring somewhere near the start of that mess of a fic).
-------------

There is a small room a good distance away from the main chamber (where the remains of the old Momentum loom quietly over everything) that Crow has all but sequestered himself in. It's dark and somewhere off in the corner there is the faint sound of water dripping, the dinginess of it suiting his current state of mind perfectly.

Of course, Kiryu finds him anyway (not that Crow will admit to hiding) standing just inside the door and wearing that vicious smile as he murmurs, "Crow. There you are." Crow barely moving in response, simply glowering and idly wondering if he cuts Kiryu's heart out if that will manage to kill the bastard.

"We're meeting," Kiryu continues, strolling into the room and ignoring the deadly glare being aimed in his direction. "You're expected to attend."

"No."

A sigh on Kiryu's part. Obviously annoyed and long-suffering, while he shakes his head. "You're one of us now, Crow. I've told you, you need to accept...."

"And what if I do accept it, what then? I join your little fight, help you wipe out the Signers, just like I'm expected to. I'm fucking dead, Kiryu. You killed me. You watched me die. Why the fuck should I care about your battles, there's nothing in it for me." Crow pauses in his tirade for a moment, glowering at the glyph on his arm that is still hidden somewhat under swiftly healing scars. "Give me a reason, Kiryu. Tell me why this is worth my time and maybe, maybe I'll think about it."

"There doesn't need to be a reason. We were born to fight them, Crow. It's why we're here. Don't you want to make them suffer?"

"I want to see everyone suffer." The statement made in a grudging sort of agreement. "The world and everything in it, I suppose that includes the Signers too."

"Then...."

"I want them to suffer under my terms. Not yours. Your battles, this five-thousand-year-old fight, all of it means nothing to me, Kiryu, and it never will. So you can run right back up the hall and tell your boss that I'm not playing."

"We need you for these plans, Crow."

"Maybe. But you can't have me." Crow turning away, effectively ending the conversation, and he can hear Kiryu muttering, "You always were a stubborn little shit," as he stalks away. Leaving Crow once again to the darkness and quiet wrapped around him. Which suits him fine.

He has his own plans to make.
