[Jan. 11][Grandia] Incline
Title: Incline
Day/Theme: Jan. 11, 2009 "your hand in mine"
Series: Grandia
Character/Pairing: Justin/Feena
Rating: PG
As much as Feena hated to admit it, she was now the one slowing down Justin, not the other way around. At six months pregnant, adventuring was just not as easy as it used to be. She stumbled over a root, but caught herself from falling with a quick grasp on a dry, dead branch.
"Are you okay?" Justin asked nervously. He couldn't come right out and tell her that it might be time for them to settle down for a while. He was worried that saying so would hurt her pride as New Parm's greatest adventuress. ...It was just..there was no reason to be uncomfortable and if something happened while they were all alone, he had no idea what he'd do...
"Well, my back hurts and I'm sick of being so ridiculously clumsy, but it could be worse."
"We're almost to Milda's place. You'll be able to sit down and take a break there. And I'm sure we'll get a hot meal too," the young man laughed as his stomach growled.
"There's ice on the road," Feena observed as they stepped onto the curving path. Although it was easier to follow the main road than the awkward side paths, there was still a high danger of slipping.
"Give me your hand," Justin turned to his wife, palm outstretched. His hands were bigger than when they had first met, but she was still taller than him. Feena's hand fit snugly into Justin's gloved grasp. Even after nearly a year of marriage, they still blushed a little when their eyes met like this.
With Justin walking half a step ahead, they continued up the incline. Feena was fairly sure that if she slipped, Justin would manage to halt her fall, however, there was a chance that if he tripped, with all the weight of their bags on his back, he might pull them both down. But Justin wasn't as clumsy as he once had been. Years of travel had enhanced his powers of observation and given him plenty of chances to improve his balance. Battle had strengthened both the mind and body of the youth- he had really only been a boy when Feena had first met him. And now he was so much more. He was her lover, and she could trust him to be her protector. The adventuring might be hampered, but they'd manage, even with a child. Feena kept her eyes lovingly on Justin's back.
