“I’m not going in there!“ Face insisted as he sat down in the hotel’s lobby across Tom and Jane.

“Come on,” Tom sighed. “It can’t be that bad. We’re only talking about you sharing a bed with a woman. It’s not something you haven’t ever done before.”

“But you can’t ask that of me!” Face pouted. “There’s a lot I’m willing to do but that just goes way too far. Why can’t I room with Lynn?”

“Because we’re in New York, Face,” Jane explained patiently. “And that means she gets to see Kev and I’m convinced that she doesn’t want to share her room with you if she can spend time with her boyfriend instead.”

“Well then, what about Tom and I share the room?”

Jane reached over and tugged at Face’s sleeve. “Darling, do you really think I’m willing to share your room with your crazy wife?”

“Ex-wife,” Face corrected her through clenched teeth. “Crazy ex-wife.”

“Are the papers signed yet?”

The words made Face grimace. He hated to think about the problems he was having filing for a divorce, especially since Alice didn’t want to get divorced.

“Come on, Face, it’s not that bad.” Tom tapped his best friend’s shoulder.

“You have no idea. She’s a monster.”

“You’ve been married to her for ages now,” Tom reminded him.

“I didn’t know I was for most of the time,” Face insisted. “And it hasn’t worked out the first or second time. She’s evil, Tom. She is gonna try and kill me in my sleep!”

“Face, you’re exaggerating!” Jane laughed.

“Or even worse, she will try to have sex with me,” Face added in a muted voice.

Jane was about to tell Face that he was going completely insane but Tom was quicker, “We can’t risk that, buddy; you’re sleeping on our couch.”
