[Dec 21] [Samurai Jack] Candle Down the Well
Title: Candle Down the Well
Day/Theme: 21) and by dark arts cast a light
Series: Samurai Jack
Character/Pairing: Aku, Jack
Rating: G
Aku had a high opinion of himself. That much was evident in the number of effigies and monuments to himself all over the world. He was supremely confident in his power and his cunning.
He had been delighted with himself for flinging the samurai into the future. He had whole eras to prepare, to infect and infest the earth and the worlds beyond it so that the warrior would be adrift when he finally landed. Lost, out of place and out of time, in a world that had been too long under Aku’s shadow to ever even dream of escaping it, the samurai’s noble spirit had been swallowed up, like a candle dropped down a well.
What Aku hadn’t realized was that the bottom of the well was where a candle was most needed. The white warrior was not just a distant fairy tale anymore. He was real and walked among the people, casting light where there had been none for thousands of years. They saw it with their own eyes, saw the forces of Aku fall against him, and felt a kindling in their own spirits.
As the samurai pursued Aku across the world, his fire spread to other candles, leaving a trail of burning hearts and awakened warriors behind him. In trying to do his worst evil, Aku had given the world its best hope for good. Casting Jack into darkness had only made his light brighter.
