[Nov. 30, 2008][Tales of Eternia] Time Flies
Title: Time Flies
Day/Theme: Nov. 30, 2008 "an absent-minded lover's apology."
Series: Tales of Eternia (Destiny 2)
Character/Pairing: Keele/Meredy
Rating: PG
It wasn't like Keele to hurt Meredy. He'd gotten past even the last remnants of his embarrassment over being in love and his stubbornness to admit it. It was just that sometimes he got so caught up in his work that he forgot about everything else.
So many theories, so little time. Keele scribbled furiously, making sure he captured all of his thoughts on paper. He had never been so intellectually stimulated in all his life as he had been on his journey with Reid and Farah and here in Celestia. There was a wealth of accumulated knowledge in all the fields of science and magic just waiting for him to devour it and use it to fuel his theories. Ever since he had settled into Meredy's home, he had been making daily trips to the library to look for one text or another as he cross-referenced, researched, and otherwise danced in a garden of intellectual delights.
The hours just seemed to fly by and before Keele even realized it, it was growing dark and dinner was growing colder and Meredy was knocking at the door of his study. "Keele, don't you want to eat with Meredy? Are you angry at Meredy?"
Her high voice, tense with anxiety, cut through his thoughts and Keele closed the book before him without remembering to bookmark it. He dumped a stack of papers from his lap and rushed to open the door. "Meredy!"
She was clearly distraught, twisting the hem of her dress in her hands. "Keele..."
"Wh-what time is it?" he stammered, already aware of the answer. It was late. Too late. He put his hands on her shoulders and pulled her into his arms. "I'm sorry, Meredy. I'm so sorry. C'mon. Let's try and see if we can salvage it."
She brightened up a little at his words and they headed down the stairs.
