Rating: G.  Spoilers, I guess, for chapters 156-160, Soifon's and Yoruichi's backstory. Jinteki shakusetsu - would be Soifon's zanpakuto's release command.


I stand amidst drifts of white, my breath crystalizing in the frigid air, stilling my mind to train.  The trees stand around me, silent shrouded spectators to my solitary ritual.

A dim memory of lilac blossoms and soft moonlight.  Dark hands guiding my sword. 

No more.  There can be no more of this weakness.  I hear Suzumebachi's hum of approval in the back of my mind. 

Dark hair pours like silk into my lap.  Golden eyes glint in the moonlight.

You cut and run.  You betrayed me.  You betrayed us all.  

I walk disbelieving into an empty room.  An bare room with a vacant throne. 

A distant roar, like the thunder of a million swarms, interrupts the painful memories.  It fills my mind, my soul.  I listen.

There can only be one queen. 

For the years of disappointment.

I still my soul and invoke my blade.
