[Nov. 12, 2008][Record of Lodoss War] Homecoming
Title: Homecoming
Day/Theme: Nov. 12, 2008 "in a back alley (with allies)."
Series: Record of Lodoss War: The Grey Witch
Character/Pairing: Etoh, Parn
Rating: G
Familiar little houses framed with wooden crossbeams greeted Etoh as he hiked into town. The sun shone down through the leafy trees, creating a playful spattering of light and shadow on everything beneath them- the road, the tree trunks, the houses, and Etoh himself. It was pleasant to see the sights of his youth once again. Four years wasn't forever, but it was still a fairly long time.
In the monastery, he had been so focused on prayer and study and martial arts training he had been too busy to think much about his hometown or his old friends. And, of course, now that he was a full-fledged priest of Pharis he would be carrying out his duties instead of going back to the ways of the old days. But that wouldn't stop him from passing through to say hello to his best friend. He had tried writing to Parn several times, but had never received a response. Perhaps he had left the village to pursue some line of work or perhaps he had just never thought of anything worth writing about. It was tough to tell with Parn. Either way, he didn't mean it badly though.
"Are you...insulting my father?!?"
Etoh looked away from the path before him toward the source of the sound. Unsurprisingly, it was the tavern. There was a lot of banging of tables and clanking of armor coming from the busy place. It sounded like they were talking about goblins or something. And that brash voice...It sounded just as he remembered... "Parn," Etoh smiled to himself, heading towards the tavern door, "It's been a long time."
Whatever trouble was brewing, wherever it might take them, Etoh would be there for Parn, to support him, help him, and if they failed, to comfort him. Just like the old days. They were best friends after all.
The door slammed open and Parn left the tavern in a huff. He sighed heavily in anger.
"I can tell by your eyes you're going to try to fight them yourself," Etoh remarked, calling his friend's attention to him.
"Etoh?!" Parn gasped in surprise.
"Hi," the young priest smiled.
