[Nov. 10, 2008][Original] Eavesdroppers
Title: Eavesdroppers
Day/Theme: Nov. 10, 2008 "disaterology: the family that schemes together.."
Series: Original
Character/Pairing: Sifinnia, Svar, Harun, Cesni
Rating: G
"Psst! Svar! Give me a boost!" Sifinnia waved over the lanky rogue. He was somewhat disinclined to go along with the whims of the traveling merchants, but she could be such a pain when she didn't get her way...it was easier just to go along with it.
"Spying on the governor, huh?" he muttered, letting her step onto his hands and lifting her up to the window.
"You're one to talk," the young woman snapped back at him, peering through the glass.
The governor, Cesni al-Rahar, and his son were talking in an opulent sitting room. The younger man held a pillow in his lap and fiddled with its fringed edge as he spoke. "Father, I think it's about time that we make some plans," Harun's determined voice could be heard softly through the glass. "I know you used to often do this sort of thing in the past, but I heard you stopped when I fell ill. It sounds as if a lot of people have strong feelings on the matter."
Svar squirmed under Sifinnia's weight. Maybe he wasn't in as good of shape as he had previously thought. "You weigh a ton," he insulted her.
"Just be quiet," the merchant snapped back. "I can't hear them when you're whining."
"I don't know," the governor murmured, shaking his head, "I'm not sure I'm up to it. Those years seem so long ago. I'm a different type of man now."
"What the heck are they talking about?" Svar wondered, beginning to actually pay attention to the conversation. It sounded a little fishy.
"Of course you can do it again!" Harun insisted optimistically. "You're just as talented as ever! And I'll be able to help you. We'll do it and it'll surprise everyone. Musa won't know what hit him."
"Well...I suppose if you're in for it, I'll do it," the governor relented. He had always loved his son, and after Harun had been cured of the Dreaming Sickness he had been particularly unable to refuse him anything.
"Musa won't expect anything?!" Sifinnia repeated to herself. Looking down at Svar, he could see that her eyes were as wide as lilypads. "Svar! We must stop them! Immediately! We're going through the window!"
"If you insist," he sighed and set her down before proceeding to smash the window with his sheathed sword. The governor and his son had the exact same look of shock and frustration on their faces as the strange pair climbed through the window.
"I won't allow you to hurt Musa!" Sifinnia shouted, brandishing her mace.
"What she said," Svar agreed casually.
"Hurt Musa?" Harun sighed. "You fools. I wanted to throw him a surprise party."
"Uh, sorry?" Sifinnia lowered her weapon, sweating nervously. She glanced back at the damage she and Svar had done to the window. It was absolutely destroyed. Well...this was awkward.
