[Nov 9] [Fallen Chasm] Sandwiches and Sobs

Title: Sandwiches and Sobs
Day/Theme: Nov. 9// the "i accept your apology, but you make me really mad sometimes" kiss
Series: Fallen Chasm (original)
Character/Pairing: Endive/Alecka (platonic)
Rating: G

Hands down, Alecka was the most irritating person Endive had ever met. She was spoiled, bratty, and didn’t seem to grasp the concept of “If any one recognizes us, we’re in trouble.”

Of course, compared to other Maisters, she was a saint. And she didn’t have that infuriating tendency to look down on anyone who wasn’t as ‘special’ as she. She was a genuinely loving child. No matter that her parents had allowed Omega to nearly kill her, she trusted anyone her older brother vouched for.

Which was probably the reason why they were both still alive. If Endive said “Run!” she would dash along behind him to the best of her ability. The problems came from the fact that she honestly had no life experience outside of the sheltered life of the Maisters.

So she had destroyed dinner. AGAIN. And this time Endive didn’t even know how she had managed it. Sandwiches couldn’t be too hard to make, right? He had learned how to do it at half of her age. But the sticky mess that she presented him was not only inedible, but apparently poisonous as well.

Not to mention the fact that they were now on the run without food. Again. If she made another mistake tonight…

Then Alecka tripped and nearly stumbled off a cliff, causing Endive to swerve and nearly slide off himself when he rescued her. He was unharmed, but somehow the little Maister had managed to twist her ankle and the bunny-boy ended up carrying her all the way to the next safe spot. Needless to say, he was not happy when he set her down.

Alecka watched as her friend paced around the cave, hastily building a fire. He was silent, ignoring any attempts at conversation.

“I’m sorry, Okay?!” she finally said, trying to be angry, but with tears trickling down her cheeks. She tried to be good at everything. But all she seemed to do was cause Endive trouble. He wouldn’t even be here if it wasn’t for Ayin demanding his cooperation. His family might be still alive, and he’d be safe and happy. That would be better, right? Even if that did mean that she’d be dead or having scary scientists looking her over. “This is all my fault, right? It…it’d be better if-”

Her sentence was interrupted with a kiss to her forehead. Then an arm pulled her close, and Endive curled her into a hug. He should be angry. He still was, really. But there was no reason to take it out on a kid like her. So he held the little girl as she sobbed, not chiding or yelling, pretending to be like his mother.

She had never been mad with him. She’d always smiled and just told him how to do things the right way, even if he kept on messing up. And now Mom was gone, and this little girl with to much power needed him to protect her. It wasn’t as if it was too hard. And it was nice, sometimes, to be needed. And to be able to save someone, rather than helplessly watch them die.

“You don’t need to cry too, do you?” The blond looked up at him, worried.

“No. I’m fine. Let me show you how to make a sandwich…”
