[Nov 8][Fallen Chasm][Puppet Maister]
Title: Puppet Maister
Day/Theme:Nov 8 // a history that threatens to repeat itself
Series: Fallen Chasm (original)
Character/Pairing: Omega, Alecka
They said it would never happen again. No child would ever have to suffer through the hell that he had gone through. No child would ever be harmed by the hand of a Maister, or an Omega.
Unless, of course, the entire council had voted upon it, and decided that it was for the ‘greater good’ that this child or that would die. And even then would the send out only the leader of the Omega section, to do the gruesome job.
The Omega lost a piece of himself each time someone died at his hand. A bit more of his humanity was stripped away, and he found himself caring less and less as he cold-bloodily murdered more and more.
Then he was ordered to capture a child he knew. Not some featureless babe or a threatening sociopath. No, only a child who could –potentially- upset the oh so carefully balanced world of the Maisters.
And it was not even as if she had done anything wrong to gain her death sentence. She had denied the same powers all other Maisters had happily stolen. All done from some childish idealism that it was wrong to hurt others.
As if Omega could fault a child for that. He had power thrust upon him; who would he be to decimate another’s life for the crime of not having that which he hated so?
The Omega Maister realized that he didn’t care if his own life was forfeit; he simply did not want another innocent to die.
But there was no reason for him to die at all, was there? He was smarter, more powerful, and better equipped than any of his masters…why should they have any say in his (or the blond haired little girl’s) fate?
There was no need for the world to cycle back again to play his story over; the little girl deserved the right to make her own choices. And so the Omega Maister decided to become a puppet-master in his own right. He let a little girl flee, and – in his own, twisted way- encouraged her to do exactly what the Maisters feared so much: To bring down their whole world.
