[Nov 7][Wormhole][Who said opposites attract?]

Title: Who said opposites attract?
Day/Theme: Nov 7 // magnet theory
Series: Wormhole (original)
Character/Pairing: Felicity/Hal
Rating: PG

" - and that is how our electronics work. Charged either positively or negatively..."

"Mr. Hal, do opposites always attract?"

The Programing Science professor paused, mid-lecture, to look out at the student asking the question. From the mischievous look in her eyes, she was prompting him for some deep philosophical statement, rather than the simple technical answer he preferred. But for the first time in ages he was able to say with certainty -

"No. Opposites do not always attract." And then he proceed to give them the long, detailed explanation of why this was true. Ignoring, of course, the in direct question in the students eyes.

Hal knew from experience that opposites did not attract. If that had been true his 'soul mate' would have been some overly emotional hussy, obsessed with whatever new trend was popular and unable to give him the calm commitment he so desperately needed.

Instead, he found her in the library, curled up on a chair, painstakingly piecing together another parchment fragment. Her modest dress matched his, and a quiet nod was all the communication they gave each other.

Each worked in silence; he interfacing directly with the 'net while she scribbled out a translation. But neither minded. It was enough just to be there, sharing the others silence.
