[Nov. 7, 2008][Original] A Tempest of a Marriage
Title: A Tempest of a Marriage
Day/Theme: Nov. 7, 2008 "magnet theory"
Series: Original
Character/Pairing: Talluria/Vijssan
Rating: PG
"You're back? I thought you were mad. I thought you were leaving for good this time. ...Or at least for a while longer than usual," the queen murmured. She didn't turn around to face her second husband. It was political marriage. Even more political than her first. When it came to the fires of passion, however, this one was the opposite of the first. The man the people had already begun to respect as the "Red Emperor" had the temper to match his name. He was violently emotional and had pursued this marriage for more reasons than the politics of it. All in all, he was your basic royal loose cannon.
"Talluria... Look at me," he pleaded, spreading his arms wide. It was his usual way of opening up and showing his vulnerabilities to his wife. She didn't always buy it, but it was all he could do to try.
Talluria stubbornly continued to face away. Why did Vijssan always have to be so difficult? Why wouldn't he just leave her alone? She needed time to cool down after yet another of their arguments.
Vijssan sat down on the bed and scooted around to his wife's side. Her jaw was set firm with her resolve. He shrugged a loose lock of black hair out of his face. "...I didn't come back to make you angrier. Honestly, I didn't. It's just that you're like a magnet working on my heart. You always draw me back, time and again. I can't even do anything to stop it."
He put his hand on hers. She considered pulling her hand back, but decided against it. The emperor sounded sincere. ...He was always sincere. It was just the speed with which his moods changed that was the problem. His brother had not been so mercurial.
"Do you forgive me?" he pressed her. When he pleaded, she always noticed a sort of squeakiness crept into his voice.
She was thinking about it. "Do you?" he begged.
Talluria sighed. It wouldn't solve anything to withhold her forgiveness. It was better to give in before he turned from apology back to anger. "I forgive you," she said cooly.
"Thank goodness," he breathed deeply.
