[Nov 5][But not without considerable regret][Blur and Blood]
Title: Blur and Blood
Prompt: Nov. 5, 2008 ~ but not without considerable regret
Fandom: Fallen Chasm
Character/Pairing: Ayin, Alecka, The Masters
“You see?” The man spoke, his face covered in the mask of a basilisk. “This child is the perfect killing machine. No thoughts, no emotions. I’ve stripped all of that unnecessary baggage aside.”
With cool hands he stripped off the child’s shirt, revealing the scars of surgery that had given the boy his powers.
“He only does what I tell him to.”
The audience clapped politely, clearly interested. Except for a young woman, whose angry shout rang across the hall.
“You monster! How could you do that to anyone?” Gamma glared out at the scientist, hand protectively clasped around her bulging waist.
“I’m sorry? You wish to debate the effectiveness of my techniques?” The mask smiled.
“I wish to debate your credentials!”
“Gamma!” This from a fellow Master. “You are out of turn!”
But the scientist in the arena silenced him with a wave. “No, no. She has a point. Why don’t I prove myself to you?”
Fingers flicked nimbly into a set of glyphs, and the mask glowed briefly. The young mother screamed, staring at the blood on her hands. “No-“
Audience members stood, shocked at the man’s brutality. To injure a fellow Master was acceptable. To kill an unborn child…
“No one doubts my credentials now, correct?” The Omega grinned, the sides of the mask cracking.
Another scientist moved, as if to attack the murder. But then the whole scene shifted, and the Theta found himself in front of the young mother, along with the Weapon. The boy stared down, brows rising, as if he had never seen death before.
Then, without breaking a sweat, his hands glowed and he touched the woman’s stomach. The bleeding stopped, and he was left with a child screaming in his arms.
And he smiled. This child, who had just killed forty men with ease, grinned down at the little girl in his arms as if he had never seen anything so wonderful.
“BOY!” A shout from his master brought the weapon out of himself, and he fled back to the arena, leaving the girl clasped lovingly in her mother’s arms.
“I believe that is enough for today. No one can doubt your work, Omega. Though your methods…have much to be desired.”
The master nodded, bowed, and walked from the arena. Only a hand stopped him from leaving the building completely.
“Next time you hit that child, “ The Theta informed Omega, “Remember whose wife and babe he just saved.” The burly man shoved the scientist against the wall, before ruffling the Weapons hair and stalking off.
