"Zero." Yuuki looked at him, concern in her eyes. "What's wrong?"

He didn't reply at first, instead just closed his eyes and leaned against a wall. His harsh breathing slowed down and all of a sudden, he was calm.

"Nothing." He knew that wouldn't work with her, it never did, and she'd try to pry it out of him.

"That's a lie! Tell me!" she pleaded, her eyes big and round and she squeezed her hands together.

Zero also knew that if he pushed her away, she'd stop asking. She always did (he wondered what would happen if he was Kaname. Would she try harder, question more, actually get an answer?).

"You're in my way," he told her, (softly) pushing her away. She moved in front of him again and he growled impatiently.

"Zero, tell me! We should help each other!" she said but he ignored her, trying to get past the mini-barrier. "We should share our problems."

She wanted to know his secrets but Zero doubted Yuuki can handled those secrets. Could she survive knowing that Kaname wasn't as pure and kind as she thought?

The answer to that was simple. Zero saw the way she looked at Kaname, the way her entire appearance would change. She'd act more flustered and shy, believing everything he told her,  and the trust she had in Kaname was obvious.

No, if she knew about that secret, she'd break. She'd fall apart just like he did when his family died, except hers would be worse. Yuuki wasn't made for betrayal.

(He wondered how she'd react to his betrayal and an ironic laugh left his lips. He already betrayed her in the worst possible way, taking her blood, and she wasn't depressed at all.

Zero wasn't sure if he was disappointed by that.)

The other secret, the one on his vampire status had already been revealed, though he didn't want to talk about it at all. This secret would remain with him until his death--

"Zero?" In front of him, Yuuki's face swam and Zero clutched the wall.

--and that was coming sooner and sooner.

"It's," he told her, trying to get a hold of himself, "Nothing." Regaining control of his body, Zero strode down the hallway, his long legs making it hard for Yuuki to catch up. She started to job behind him and he swore softly before going at a faster pace.

"Zero, wait up! I'm not done yet."

Oh, but you are. The scent of her blood drifted into him again and he felt half-crazed, mad even.

"You're going even faster! Stop!"

Keep runningrunningrunning. It's a mantra he followed as he left the school building. It's one he followed for years when he didn't want to explain anything or need to get to a safer location. His fingers twitched and he started the mantra again.
Keep running.

"Hey! I know you can hear me!"

Zero could feel his eyes changing colour, could feel his teeth growing. It was something he tried to sense to the smallest detail because this told him when he had to leave, when he had to disappear so (Yuuki) others could be saved.

He was approaching his dorm and he tried to keep the transformation down, at least until he reached his room.

"The dorms? But...Don't think that will stop me!"

The scent of her blood was intoxicating. Zero didn't have to count to know that his attacks were coming sooner and sooner, for longer periods of time.

His transformation would soon be complete and he would have to be killed.

(Zero never prayed for much, in fact he never prayed at all, but this one slipped out. Give me more time.)

Sometimes he could barely make it through the day without smelling someone's blood and having to hide in a hidden corridor. Usually it was Yuuki's blood that did that.

"Zero!"

He reached his doom room and opened the door. Not sparing a glance to see where Yuuki was, he closed the door behind him and slipped to the floor. Harsh breathing filled the air as Zero's tranformation took over him.

"Zero?" Yuuki stood at the door, trying to open it but it was locked. She stayed there for a moment and then finally left. She'd come back later for an explanation.
(Zero was important, too important to let him keep these problems to himself.)

He listened to her footsteps disappear. Sometimes it was hard to hide the monster in him, the killer that would appear and destroy all.

He'd keep hiding it, though, because he'd never allow himself to become one of them, the vampire elite.

short because I'm tried but...wow...looking over it I just noticed it's rather...random. And scattered.
I really shouldn't write when I'm sleepy.

And a mini-paragraph because I don't want to lose this idea and it also came from the prompt.

Zero hates vampires. There are many reasons why and Yuuki doesn't know all of them yet. She know that he hates them because they killed his family, because they kill innocent people, because they kill people period. He also hates them because he doesn't trust them very much. Their powers, their enhanced genes, all of them lead to a more powerful predator and humans are far too trusting to realize they are in danger until it is too late. (Zero corrects this for her, it is not 'trust' but 'arrogance' that causes them to be ignorant. Yuuki sighs and rewrites the sentence.) He doesn't like vampires because they ruin lives and try to control others. (Yuuki thinks of her hero and writes down secretly, not all of them. Zero catches it, because she can't keep secrets from him, and just frowns.)

Zero hates vampires because he is own of them. This is the biggest reason and she wishes she could change that, or maybe just change the hatred he has for himself. (Zero looks at the sentence and calls her an idiot. Some things can't changes. Yuuki smiles back at him, knowing he actually means, Stop worrying over me. She knows she can't stop though.) Zero hates himself far more than he hates all other vampires. It might be guilt or it might just be because he is doing the very things he hates, the very things he destroys the vampires for. (Zero has to be happy soon Yuuki prays and this she can hide from Zero. It is not something she'd do for Kaname but just for Zero.)

In short, Zero hates vampires entirely. He'll never like one at all.

(This is how Yuuki finishes her writing. When she is gone, Zero adds mentally one more point.

Zero does not hate all vampires. He's thinking about a long-haired girl with dreams in her eyes as he adds this.)
