DENY ME

"No," Tieria says, through clenched teeth. His eyes are gold rainbows, staring into irises just as multi-colored as his own.

Ribbons smiles, the smooth oil-slick expression of someone who thinks he has everything figured out, someone who believes he is the puppetmaster and not the puppet. "Why do you deny yourself?" he asks. "You are one of us - the lost sheep, the prodigal son. Return to where you belong. Your abilities are wasted with them."

"I don't deny anything," Tieria answers, his voice like chips of ice. "Veda does not decide my destiny." He lets the power in his eyes die, looks squarely into Ribbons' faltering serenity.

"I do."
