[September 24] [Shiki] Escape
Title:Escape
Day/Theme:September 24: death is another country

Character/Pairing: Megumi/implied Megumi-->Natsuno

Her steps were big and hurried as she hiked the uneven ground. Grass crushed underneath her feet; her shoes dampened by the remnants of last night’s rain. Walking in a quick pace while wearing her favorite high-heeled boots was a real pain but at that moment, fifteen-year-old Shimizu Megumi didn’t give a damn.
She was leaving.
At long last, she’s leaving this wretched town and its wretched people.
At long last, the dream she had always dreamed of was turning into a reality.
No longer would she have to endure being ridiculed for her sense of style. (Those ignoramuses knew nothing about fashion!). Nor would she have to listen to those annoying rumormongers who did nothing but talk about other people’s lives. (Pathetic beings!)
This was the last time she would have to tolerate the sheer boringness of this town and its equally uninteresting inhabitants. (Except for Yuuki-kun who was so similar to herself Megumi firmly believed she had finally found her soulmate. She was sure it wouldn't be long until he decided to leave as well. And then, they would meet again and fall in love like the main girl and the main boy in those sappy shoujo comicbooks she used to read. )
Her eyes lit up upon seeing the highway up ahead. Her lips curved to form a satisfied smirk.
Goodbye, Sotoba. May your pitiful existence rot in hell!

“Megumi! Megumi! Dear, something’s wrong with Megumi!”
“Megumi, this is Papa. Come on now, open your eyes!”
“Her hands –they are so cold.”

Megumi stepped out of the village entrance. Her crisp, joyful laughter filled the air.
Finally, she was free.
