[Sept. 8] [The Cat Returns] Waiting at the Crossroads
Title: Waiting at the Crossroads
Day/Theme: 08. heroes in times of peace
Series:The Cat Returns
Character/Pairing: Muta aka Renaldo Moon
Rating: G
He was a legend among his own kind, and impressive even to the clumsy, noisy humans that pitter-patted by at all hours. He was a villain as well, almost a monster, which made him smirk. Not just a monster in size either, he thought, arching his back to heave his remarkable girth off the café chair he’d claimed as his own. A passing little girl gasped at the sight of him, then ran a hand down his back, making him arch a bit more.
She giggled and was towed a long by her mother until she was out of sight in the crowd. It made him think of Haru. It had been awhile since he had seen her. Then again, he and the Baron had done such a job helping that little lady that her life hardly required any seeking heroes at crossroads anymore.
Still, there would be others. Guided by fate or mysterious voices or the weird whims of chance, someone would need the aid of the Cat Bureau, and he would be waiting, at the crossroads to lead them there. A white omen in the mundane world, he thought, blinking smugly in the sunlight, with a fierce warrior underneath.
“Yeesh,” said a young man in a suit and tie. “That’s the fattest cat I’ve ever seen.”
