[Sept 6] [Hellsing] Dark Art and Design

Title: Dark Art and Design
Day/Theme: 06. there's an art to this
Series:Hellsing
Character/Pairing: Seras
Rating: PG

It was the lull after a mission, that long moment of silent, smug satisfaction, when Seras found herself admiring the seals embroidered on her master’s gloves. She couldn’t remember ever seeing him without them. It was a striking design, red on white, and she knew it had something to do with the spells used to bind Alucard to the Hellsing Organization’s service. She didn’t know much about occult symbols, and she couldn’t read most of the writing around the circle, but she knew the inverted pentagram was used in movies as a Satanic symbol. Right side up though, it was a symbol of protection against evil.

She wondered about that, about which it was to who saw him from which angle. If he looked down at his own hands, the star would be right side up. She couldn’t imagine Alucard needing protection, so maybe it marked him as a protector? Even it was possibly against his will. (she sort of doubted that too) Seen from another person’s view though, they would be inverted, maybe a warning?

Her own gloves were bare. How long would it be before her master’s master saw fit to bind her as well? Would they ever? Would it make any difference? She couldn’t imagine rebelling against the Organization. Where would she go if she didn’t have them? What would she do without their missions for her? The seals were almost pretty, she thought, Looking back at the gloves, but maybe that was because to her, wearing them would mean she did belong to the Hellsing Organization, that she had a place in the world. It would mean she was wanted and valued, that they weren’t going to risk her wandering away. Alucard probably didn’t see them that way.
