[Sept 2] [House M.D.] Backstage Pass

Title: Backstage Pass
Day/Theme: September 2: none of a kind
Series: House M.D.
Character/Pairing: House/Cameron
Rating: PG-13

House sat silently behind his desk, eying the woman in front of him with big eyes that would have shunted a puppy’s look. Even though he hated compassion, he couldn’t seem to deflate hers. And it literally was eating away at him like he’d just run over the figurative puppy with his motorcycle.

“Are you done?” He finally noted that her lips had stopped moving, her speech done and her eyes turned into something he couldn’t quite put his finger on.

She tilted her head to the side, a quirk at the corner of her mouth. “You weren’t even listening were you?”

Shaking his head, he sighed in exaggeration. “Nope. Not even a little. Sorry, I’m allergic to lectures.”

She sighed and leaned back into her chair. For some reason she always scooted herself onto the edge of her seat when talking to him, like an obedient puppy trying to catch its master’s attention.

“I wasn’t lecturing you...”

“Sure you were. Everyone tries to. Just a matter of if I care or...if I care.” He reached for the small bottle of pills on his desk and popped it open with ease as he threw one back into his mouth. “But as you can see, I’m not real interested in your Moral101 class today. Save it for someone who will listen or will listen to score with you.” He paused, rolled his eyes to the side. “You might wanna try Chase. I hear he’s a great suck up.”

Cameron eyed him, careful not to show what exactly she was thinking before propping her arm up on the desk and leaned forward, closer. “And why is it that you don’t want to get in my pants? Am I that boring that it would be a problem for you to even listen just so you can have sex with me?”

He lifted one finger. “Oh but I don’t have to try. I’m cripple. I’ve already got my backstage pass to your bed.”

Shocked by her reaction, she sat back and laughed. He drummed his fingers, trying hard to figure out what was going on in that head of hers. Long brown waves curled about her shoulders. Lips pulled into a witty smile.

House wasn’t stupid. She was beautiful. Smart. And not unique in the least. Like a generic brand of humans, she had money, looks and brains. Nothing at all amusing or interesting to puzzle about.

So why was he suddenly interested in her thoughts as her fingers picked at the seam of her lab coat.

“Is there a reason why you’re staring at me?” She finally spoke after a moment passed by.

He snorted. “You’re asking me why I’m staring at you in my own office? Geez that’s a tough one.”

Cameron smiled then stood up. “I have some patients to follow up on.”

House waited but she didn’t make a remark about the open invitation to sleep with her. “You have nothing else to say? Nothing to complain sexual harassment for?” And did she just sway her hips a little longer. Seductively?

She turned back at the door and winked. “No.” Then left him, heading down in the hall as he sat in complete stupor.

Well, maybe she was a little different then others. Maybe.

He smirked.
