"Go on, Julian," Stuart prompted the tall, nervous man. He patted his shoulder comfortingly. He knew that Julian's fears regarding the crew's reception of him were largely unfounded. If these people could get along with all the other average humans aboard, with the Lingwans working on the ship, and all the other strange beings they encountered, how could they not accept Julian? They knew he was a good and reliable physician. They would not have been sent on this mission if they didn't have the ability to relate to other people, even those who might be abnormal in some way.

Julian turned back toward Stuart and straightened his yukata. "Do I look okay? ...Are you sure that this is going to go smoothly?"

Stuart smiled. "It's not like none of them have ever met you before, Julian." It amused him, how confused Julian could be about other people- didn't he see that so many aspects of his altered physic and abilities would be attractive, not repulsive, to the average person. His yellow eyes and almost white hair were lovely, in an unearthly sort of way. He was well-proportioned, tall, strong, and good with his hands. "I'm sure that if you just take that last step through the door, you'll find yourself surprisingly popular with the young ladies," Stuart added, trying to ease his discomfort.

"I...I," Julian stuttered, "I'm not sure I want the attention of young ladies." He fiddled with the end of his braid, wrapping the ends of his pale hair around his fingers.

"Just go," Stuart said. He wouldn't allow Julian to vacillate like this any longer. At this rate, he would never enter the makeshift party space of the hold and would just go back to hiding away in the infirmary as if nothing had ever happened. Stuart gave him a gentle push.

Julian stumbled forward, sandals flapping. Hakim glanced at him curiously, "Are you alright there, Doctor?"

"I'm fine. Only a little clumsy," Julian assured him, regaining his balance. "I'm never quite myself in front of large groups of people."

"Stage fright, huh?" Hakim mused, "Well, take a look and you'll see that no one is looking at you but me. ...And Father Mallory, it seems."

"Oh, I know about that," Julian smiled, actually smiling and feeling the humor of the situation. Stuart would probably spend the whole rest of the party keeping an eye on him from a distance making sure he was doing alright and not sneaking off to hide somewhere.

"Good of you to join us, Dr. Jet," the captain approached him, and reached to shake his hand.

"Please, Captain, call me Julian," he answered, taking her small, but tough hand in his. "Or, failing that, Nibariki," he added.

Hearing this cautious unfolding of Julian's inner self, Stuart's lips stretched from a tiny smile into a full-fledged grin. Julian would be okay.
