[August 17, 2008][Tales of Legendia] Listen When I Shout
Title: Listen When I Shout
Day/Theme: Aug. 17, 2008 "Stop whispering; start shouting"
Series: Tales of Legendia
Character/Pairing: Chloe (Chloe/Senel), Norma, main party
Rating: G
"Psst! C! Come sit by me!" Norma waved her over with a dramatic stage whisper, then patted the ground beside her.
Chloe looked nervously toward Senel, Will, and the others. She didn't want them to see her sneaking over to the side with Norma. Who knew what crazy thing Norma might say or do that would leave her looking like a fool in front of their friends? She carefully slipped away while Jay was poking fun at Moses and Will was berating him for his unkind and unnecessary words.
"What is it?" Chloe asked Norma quietly. She folded her hands and looked up at Norma's crumb-speckled face.
"Have some melon bread!" the bubbly girl suggested, pulling another roll from the large woven basket. Chloe accepted the snack while Norma sloppily wiped her face on her sleeve. It was so...unladylike. (Not that she really should be expecting much from Norma of all people.)
"Thank you for the bread," Chloe asked again, "But I'm sure that's not what you called me over here for. What do you want, Norma?"
"I was thinking, with Shirley around, it's going to be more difficult for you. So this isn't the time to back down, C! You can't afford to whisper and fumble with your feelings anymore! You have to really put yourself out there!" As she went on, Norma's ravings grew louder and more excited. Chloe flinched, worried that this was going to draw the main party's attention to their one-sided discussion.
"Throw yourself at Senny! He's just too dull to understand without being told directly- not that I mean that as an insult, he's not the dumbest guy around here. If you're too embarrassed to do it face to face, take him into the hills and shout out your feelings so that they echo off the cliffs!" Norma continued.
"Norma, I couldn't do something like that," Chloe fussed, trying to shush her friend. She picked anxiously at the bread in her hands.
"Just imagine what he'll say when your words reverberate through the heavens to alight on his ears!" she rhapsodized. "Ooh, what if all Werites Beacon could hear your thundering emotions? That'd be great, wouldn't it, C?"
Norma opened her eyes, which she had closed while imagining her well-crafted scenario. Chloe had left. "C?" She was back sitting beside Grune and Senel as if she had never left them.
"Oh, that's no fun!" she said in a huff, kicking her feet against the grass.
"Norma, stop talking to yourself," Will chided her seriously, "You're being really distracting."
"No fair at all!" she fumed.
