[August 12] [Fate/stay night] Breaking Rules

Title: Breaking Rules
Day/Theme: August 12 - Naughty, naughty.
Series: Fate/stay night
Character/Pairing: Archer/Rin
Rating: PG-13
Notes: Pure, immense fluff. This is totally what happened and I'm going to deny any accusations that this wouldn't work. Good End plzkthnx.

“Hold on,” Rin said suddenly. “I want to try something.”

As Archer looked on, bemused, she stalked over to Caster’s prone form and picked up Rule Breaker.

“Rin,” he said as she advanced towards him with the dagger in her hand, “let’s be reasonable about this-”

Rin moved.

After the flash of light, Rin checked her arm. “The Command Seals are still there,” she confirmed, dropping the dagger. Archer was still standing in what was apparently a state of shock; she waved a hand in front of his face. “Archer? Are you-”

The hug was sudden, but not unwelcome. Rin smiled and quietly asked him, “So it worked?”

“Yes,” he murmured into her ear. She couldn’t remember hearing him that giddy before. “I - how did you know that would…?”

“I didn’t,” she said. “But Caster mentioned that it broke bonds as well as enchantments, and I knew what I was trying to break, so…”

“Thank you,” he breathed.

“Don’t mention it.”

They stood there like that for a few moments. (Without even looking away from Rin, Archer projected a sword that finished Caster off. Remarkably, her cries of pain did not ruin the moment.)

“…I wonder why I didn’t do this in any other timeline,” Rin mumbled, not realizing she was speaking. She felt Archer stiffen, and suspiciously asked, “Do you know something, Archer?”

“You might have been… unable… to do this in most timelines,” he said, before quickly changing the subject. “I haven’t properly repaid you for freeing me, Rin.”

Rin shook her head. “You don’t need to do anything.”

“I insist,” Archer replied, his lips just brushing the edge of her ear. “How else am I to show my gratitude?”

She flushed. “I-It figures that that’s the first thing on your mind.”

His face was the very picture of innocence. “What do you mean, Rin?” When she flushed and refused to answer, he smirked and said, “Well, if that’s what you want, I suppose I can oblige…”

Archer!” she squeaked, cheeks burning.

He chuckled and let go of her. “I’m only joking.”

She glared at him, but it only took a second for her expression to soften. “Let’s go home, Archer.”

“Let’s,” he agreed, really smiling for the first time in years.
