Day/Theme: August 1: Trace.

The creature had learned caution. The only sign of its passage was a faint gleam of red on the stairs, so faint that only the telltale wet shine gave it away in the flashlight beam. He ran his fingers gently over the mark, busy brain already processing the angle of the splatter and how much time had passed by the dryness of the edges.
The flashlight was tucked under his arm as he felt his way up the stairs. On the industrial rust-colored tiles the blood was almost invisible except for the gleam when the light hit it right, and as a dampness under the pale fingers.
