Series: original creation

"It's called the wild hunt," Sarah said again.

"And I care because why?"asked Alice.

"Because they only ride once every 7 years and we just happen to be on vacation, in England, on the equinox, on the 7th year-"

"It's a fairy tale! It's a stupid story. We could be back at the bar, meeting some cute boys with cute accents and not up to our asses in European poison ivy, in the middle of the night" said Alice, exasperated.

"We've gone to the pubs every night since we got here, is it so much to ask that we do one thing that I might- did you hear that?"Sarah ended with a whisper.

"Hear what?" Alice said, unconvinced at the sudden change in topic.

"It sounded like dogs...and horses."

"I'm so sure" Alice snarked and stopped. She had heard something. "It's probably just some farmer, or a hunting party or something. Everybody here hunts foxes right?"

Sarah didn't answer, straining to hear more. She took tenative steps and turned back "I think it's coming from this direction" and starting walking again.

"Sarah! If it's coming from over there, then we should go in the opposite direction." Alice hissed "I don't feel like getting shot by some pissed off farmer."

A hunting horn sounded, much closer than the earlier sounds.

"See. Hunters, now can we go back?!"

Sarah turned back to Alice, frowning, until she caught sight of her face. It was lit like a flashlight was on her, her expression terrified, exactly like that of a deer in the headlights. Sarah whipped back to see what was scaring her friend so much.

There was nothing, although Sarah was left with an impression of antlers, the sensation of speed and the scent of horse.

"Oh my God! Alice, do you think that was - Alice?" Sarah looked back, but Alice was gone. "Alice? Come on, this isn't funny! Alice!"
