Title: All That's Left
Day/Theme: June 4 - does anybody wanna buy a memory?

The old fairy had set up a booth just outside Kissing Town. She was ancient, even by fairy standards. Her wings were yellowed with age and her beehive hairdo was nearly as tall as she was.
“Memories!” she called, in a bright, reedy voice. “For yourself or for a gift! Replace an old one you don’t need or a bad one you never wanted! Many to choose from. Why, replace the memory of a your last kidney stone with this one! It’s a sunny afternoon picking apples. Or this one, it’s an hour of dabbling bare feet in a river. You, young sir!”
She motioned at a young man in the crowd. He was the picture of misery, sad-eyed, disheveled, and clutching an engagement ring box. You didn’t have to be 9000 years old to figure that out.
“Come now,” she said, more kindly. “Time heals all wounds, even those of the heart, but a handsome boy like you shouldn’t have to wait. Care to trade memories? Hand over your memory of whatever girl was fool enough to let you go and take your pick of these.”
She waved her hand over the table. The memories glistened like sunlight on snow. Wolf was already shaking his head.
“It may be all I have left of her…” he said. “I don’t dare lose it.”
